Learning Discipleship--Children

Children are important to us!

It is our desire to provide a safe and exciting experience for every child who comes to our church.  We hope our children will find that learning is fun and that adults who share with them are loving and trusting.  It is our goal that they will learn God's love through relationships developed here.  Jesus reminds us to "Love God...and to love our neighbor as we do ourselves."

NURSERY AND TODDLER ROOMS

We have the Nursery and Toddler Rooms staffed with adults at all worship times (Sundays 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.).  Your child's safety and comfort is our prime responsibility and concern while you worship with us.  When you drop off your child he/she will be given a number tag to clip to him/her and to your diaper/toy bag.  You will also be given a tag with that number.

SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN AT 10:30 A.M. ON SUNDAY

Your kids will find an exciting new program with a high-energy approach to learning about the Bible called Big      City Studio in Sunday School at SCCC.  This curriculum is a fast-paced, Bible-based tour through the      entire Bible. It will grab the attention of kids and not let go.  It functions as a movie production      studio in an urban setting. It contains a wide range of interactive elements, optional skits, games, music and      more. Big City Studio propels kids through the Bible while helping them understand how the Old and New      Testaments fit together.  The lead teachers are Katie Statler and Peggy Riley.

ELEMENTARY YOUTH GROUP MEETS MONDAY AFTERNOONS AT 4:15 P.M.

Children from age 4 through the 5th grade meet after school on Mondays from 4:15 p.m. until about 5:30 p.m.  As children gather, there are snacks offered that are prepared by parents of the participants.  Adult leaders have planned a time of quiet table games or crafts and then active outside games, followed by a Bible story lesson and a short worship.  (Early arrivers can work on homework as well.)

This group meets only during the school program year.  The primary leaders this year are Mary Owens and Jessica Ralls.

A MOMENT FOR CHILDREN DURING CREATIVE WORSHIP

From time to time, the elementary children meet in the sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. with parents and other adults before going to the Sunday School (Big City Studio) class.  There is a time for a Moment for Children led by the pastor, Rev. Frank Proctor.
